Marquis Davis Arrested for Murder@solanosheriffsofficeSolano County Sheriff’s Office Announces Murder Charges in Homicide of Vallejo Resident Damarrea NealThe Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, announces formal charges against a suspect in the homicide of 29-year-old Damarrea Neal of Vallejo. On February 9, 2026, just after 5:00 am, Fairfield Fire personnel responded to a report of a fire alongside the road near the Lake Herman Recreation Area in unincorporated Solano County. Firefighters arrived and found a human body engulfed in flames. They extinguished the fire. Solano County Sheriff’s deputies then arrived to secure the scene. The incident was determined to be a homicide, prompting an immediate response from Sheriff’s Office detectives. Through investigation, the victim was positively identified as Damarrea Neal.Further investigation determined that the homicide occurred in the 1900 block of Griffin Drive in Vallejo. The Sheriff’s Office led the investigation into Mr. Neal’s death. In a separate but related development, the suspect was contacted and arrested by the Emeryville PD on unrelated charges. The individual was identified as Marquis Davis, 39-year-old Vallejo resident, who was found driving Neal’s vehicle at the time of his arrest. On March 5, 2026, the Solano County DA’s Office filed charges against Davis, including murder, with a enhancement for the use of a firearm and a prior strike allegation. It was also confirmed that Davis has a prior conviction for murder in 2007, for which he was originally sentenced to 25 years to life, but later had his sentence reduced to 15 years due to his status as a youthful offender. Davis was released from prison in January 2025.The Solano County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of Damarrea Neal during this difficult time.
