@vallejopolicedepartment Vallejo, CA – On February 26, 2026, at approximately 4:51 p.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division were patrolling in the 1600 block of Fairgrounds Drive when they observed a known suspect seated in the front passenger seat of a black Dodge Durango. Officers recognized the suspect as having an outstanding out-of-state warrant for murder. The officers activated their emergency lights and siren to conduct a high-risk felony stop. The suspect complied with the officers' commands and was taken into custody without incident.During a search of the Dodge Durango, officers located a loaded, unregistered, unserialized firearm underneath the passenger seat where the suspect had been seated. The suspect was arrested on the out-of-state murder warrant and was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail on both the warrant and additional firearm-related charges. The originating agency has been notified, and arrangements are being made for the suspect's extradition.Chief of Police Jason Ta stated, “Taking a homicide suspect into custody protects our community and reflects the vigilance of our patrol officers. Recovering an illegal, unserialized firearm, commonly known as a ghost gun, is equally significant. These untraceable weapons pose a serious risk to public safety, and we will continue to identify and remove both violent offenders and illegal firearms from our streets.” … See MoreSee Less

On February 22, 2026, at approximately 8:49 a.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sutter Street and Ohio Street after observing a vehicle make a turn without signaling. When the officers checked the vehicle's license plate, it did not match any registered vehicle in the system, leading them to investigate further. The vehicle pulled over along Sutter Street, and the driver immediately exited the car upon stopping. Officers approached the driver and discovered, through a records check, that his driver's license was suspended. While speaking with the driver outside the vehicle, officers looked inside and observed a shotgun shell and suspected drug paraphernalia in plain view on the front seat. Based on these observations and the driver’s suspended license status, officers detained the driver in handcuffs without incident.During a search incident to arrest, officers located a glass pipe consistent with those commonly used to smoke methamphetamine inside the driver’s jacket pocket. As officers prepared to place him in the patrol vehicle, the driver made a spontaneous statement indicating there might be a firearm inside the vehicle.Officers searched the vehicle and located the firearm. Officers also located multiple loaded high-capacity magazines near the firearm, including a 100-round drum magazine. A records check on the firearm revealed it was not registered to the driver. The firearm and magazines were seized and entered into evidence. The vehicle was impounded due to the suspended license and towed from the scene. The driver was subsequently transported and booked into the Solano County Jail. What began as a routine traffic stop resulted in the recovery of a firearm and multiple high-capacity magazines. Routine enforcement often prevents larger threats. The Vallejo Police Department remains committed to protecting our community and reducing risk before harm occurs.Community Safety First.
